Our team visited the Upaya Zen Center. Roshi Joan Halifax, Founder & Abbot, warmly welcomed us in to their Zendo Hall.
The Upaya Zen Centre is a Buddhist practice and retreat center located in Santa Fe, New Mexico, USA. The centre is known for its commitment to integrating Buddhist practice with social action and compassionate service in the world.
Harita introduced The Peace Run, explaining its message and our common values to each other.
Roshi explained that compassion and mindfulness help us find peace within ourselves and spread peace in the world.
We honored Roshi with the Torchbearer Award in recognition of her decades of compassionate service to communities around the world.
Our local Peace Run coordinator, Sunamita, expressed her deep gratitude and unveiled the plaque as Roshi dedicated the Upaya Center as the 7th Sri Chinmoy Peace Blossom in New Mexico.
The Peace Run team performed two songs composed by Sri Chinmoy: "Peace Run" and "A New World of Peace".
We are deeply grateful for your warm hospitality and willingness to collaborate with open arms. Thank you for embracing us and supporting our mission of spreading peace and harmony.
Harita was thrilled to meet a fellow New Zealander- Shannon Ryan, who also now lives in the United States. There are not so many New Zealanders in America, so this was a special connection!

As well as offering our gratitude to Sunamita, we had to say goodbye to our dear friends, Mananya, and Santiva, who left the team today. We will always cherish the beautiful memories we have created together during this magnificent journey. Each of you played significant roles on the team. We eagerly await the opportunity to reunite, share more laughter, and create new memories together.
It was a great pleasure to have this family reunion with Santiva, her son Jack, and husband, David today. Thank you all for your dedicated service and support of the Peace Run.

Morgan, the nutritionist at Natural Grocers store, was deeply moved by the activities of our Peace Run and expressed that she shares precisely the same feelings for peace.
Hillary, an ultra runner and artist living near Abiquiu, graciously volunteered to join our women's team today! We met her outside Mamacita's Pizza!
She joined Harita, Marina and Egi's team and ran with each of us, barely taking breaks- she is a great runner!
Harita met a kind truck driver on the road who offered her a bottle of water.
On our journey from Santa Fe, NM to Cebolla, NM, we were fortunate to come across the breathtaking beauty of Talus Natural Arch.
Talus Natural Arch is a stunning geological feature located in New Mexico, known for its natural beauty and unique formation. It is characterized by a large rock arch formed by the erosion of surrounding rock layers over time.
We were delighted to meet some backpackers who started hiking a month ago. They are on the Continental Divide Trail, a seven-month journey from Mexico to Canada. Because of the near by forest fires, they had to hike this section on the road. That meant we got to meet them!
