We crossed the border from Macedonia to Albania. Once more a big "Thank You" for the great Peace Run experience!
...the officer took the torch across the border...
...and passed it to the Albanian border control...
Welcome to Albania! Once more we ran through the country of Shqipërisë, as the locals call it...
...big mountains and fertile fields...
...we ran along lake Prespa, where three countries meet: Macedonia, Albania and Greece. as we started in the morning in Macedonia and finished in Greece, we touched all three countries today...
...as we approached Pustec (Liqenas), a group of local athletes joined in...
...an unusual encounter...
...reaching the village...
Pustec is an old ethic Macedonian settlement located in what is nowadays Albanian territory.
...the whole village gathered for the arrival of the Peace Run!
...the mayor received the torch...
...kind words...
Thank you Pustec for the hospitality and the nice welcome!
...our Macedonian runners enjoyed their last km...
...time to say good bye...
...and we went on towards Greece...
Albania has the highest percentage of Mercedes cars in the world! New ones and old ones - all kind of models....
...our gratitude to the police for helping the Peace Run!
...and it was time to leave Albania. It was a short, but very heartfelt experience. Thank you for having us!
