Vienna - Hainburg/Slovakia border

Reported by Vaibhava Kuschnow 39.0 km

A wonderful event today was a very nice meeting and a 6,3k run with Mr. Ernst Woller, the First President of the Vienna State Parliament.

Mr Woller is a very regular and enthusiastic runner and supporter of peace. We really enjoyed the run along the Danube canal through the city with him.

Running along the historic buildings of Vienna Mr Woller blessed us with interesting stories and insights about the city´s inner workings

Our run lead us right infront of the Vienna city hall. Thank you very much for your participation, Mr Woller!

Although we could not take many pictures at our first reception we really enjoyed visiting the Vienna International School and planting a Peace Tree in drizzling morning rain. Principal of the primary school, Chad Wood and teacher Chuck Prato received us with some very enthusiastic children

Our next meeting led us to the primary school in Orth an der Donau where children were waiting for us

A moment of peace

Who knows where you can feel peace?

...we are the fulness...

...of tomorrows sun!

Usually we threaten the teachers and delighten the kids by telling them that teachers have to do 20 pushups if they help the children to guess our countries,

...but here the kids were so enthusiastic that they immediately started doing pushups themselves - very impressive!

Say "Peeeeaaaaaceeee"!

It is the Peace Run - and we all love the running part

Mayor Johann Mayer recieves the Peace Torch for the 3rd time in Orth an der Donau - true friends and supporters of the run!

Bad Deutsch-Altenburg was ready for our visit and the inauguration of the Peace Tree next to the city hall.

Vice mayor Markus Keprt receives the torch.

He told us many interesting details about this place, which was a big city at the time of Roman empire and has significant archeological value today

The tree is ready to become a Peace Tree

...and some running of course!

Our next station was Hainburg

Beautiful old town

Here the vice mayor Mrs Silvia Zeisel passes the Peace Torch to Mr. Ewald Bergmann, the head of office

A wish for peace

A loop of honor around the city fountain

We were also offered some wonderful refreshments and sandwiches.
Thank you very much!
