Birtle, MB - Brandon, MB

Reported by Brahmata Michael, Preetidutta Thorpe, Vasudha Deming 145.0 km

Our first view of Birtle Campground--the swimming pond under a beautiful prairie sky.

Children from the day camp led the way to our first ceremony in Birtle.

Sue, a friend we made at the campground, was delighted to carry the Peace Torch.

Martyn Lambe, the Valley Recreation Director, kindly waived the fee for our team's overnight stay and organized this ceremony.

Handing the torch off to Roger Wilson, the Reeve of Birtle.

Roger offered some heartfelt words; "We can all make a difference and it does come from within, it starts small perhaps. That's one thing I've learned from being on Town  Council for as long as I have, that it's an opportunity to give back. We are so blessed to live in this country, I am very grateful."

Zoe Jebb, the Economic Development Officer, was so encouraging and enthusiastic! She organised a meeting with some of her contacts in Miniota right on the spot. She also sent our team off with juice boxes. Thank you, Zoe!

A group of small children from the Miniota Discovery Learning Centre eagerly awaited the arrival of the Peace Run, so we had a spontaneous "sidewalk ceremony."

If only we had an award for the cutest Peace Runners!

They enjoyed demonstrating the actions of the World Harmony Run song.
