Tet. 30, 2024 Live from the road

Rarotonga

Reported by Stacey Marsh 10.0 km

Nikao School welcomed the Peace Run this morning, first the primary students.

They had learned about the Peace Run, and were very happy to hold the Peace Torch.

One student was selected to receive artwork by the founder Sri Chinmoy.

All the students formed lines to run with the Peace Torch.

With great speed they took off!

Before all coming together to hold the Peace Torch.

Thank you to the junior school for welcoming us.

The senior school then assembled to officially welcome us into the school.

We were honoured to have received such a beautiful welcome, and offered our own humble response.

Receiving our certificate of appreciation.

Students are usually very excited to run with the torch, so instructions are in order for the torch to stay first, if possible :-)

Then onto Nukutere College where students guessed all our countries quite easily, even Czech Republic which is rather difficult to get. Our Czech runner was very grateful for that.

Pizza, pasta... where am I from?

A moment of silence to feel peace in our hearts.

Our little skits give joy to students no matter what their age.

Thank you for being part of the Peace Run. We trust that you will be true peace runners in your community.

This is always the favourite part - when students can share their own wishes and hopes for peace, which we then carry with us as we continue the Peace Run.

The children at St Joseph's school were super enthusiastic and when they sang for us, what a power there was in their singing!

Watching the video with some of the countries the Peace Run has visited since 1987.

We are all one big family. And we can embrace that family with our heart.

Thank you for your warm welcome!

Instead of "cheese" we say... "peace"

We are so grateful to our Cook Islands' hosts, Nipura and Uddipan. You made us feel so welcome! We hope to come back again some time.

Ashcharjya, our French team member, is leaving, so he very kindly made French crepes for us. Thank you for being an amazing team player. We will miss you.

Going back to New Zealand now for one day and then the team continues to Niue, which will be the last country of this year's Peace Run.

Torch carried by
Abhejali Bernardová (Czech Republic), Frederic Ashcharjya Gat (France), Sandro Zincarini (Italy), Satyagraha Vladimir Salnicov (Moldova), Stacey Marsh (New Zealand), Uddipan Brown (New Zealand), Uddyogini Hall (Australia).
