INICIÓ EL EVENTO EN EL MONUMENTO SRI CHINMOY A LAS 8:00 AM CON EL ENCENDIDO DE LA ANTORCHA QUE PORTABA EL PRESIDENTE MUNICIPAL, ING. CARLOS EDUARDO FELTON GONZALEZ ACOMPAÑADO DE SU ESPOSA, LIC. SILVIA TREVIÑO DE FELTON Y DE LOS REGIDORES
Mayor and city officials arrived 30 minutes before the event. They read the plaque at the Sri Chinmoy Peace Monument and took photos. They also read aphorisms by Sri Chinmoy that we had place around peace monument and all were very inspired by them.
LOS FUNCIONARIOS Y EL ALCALDE LLEGARON A LAS 7:30 AM Y LA CARRERA ESTABA PROGRAMADA PARA LAS 8.00 AM POR LO QUE BAJARON AL MONUMENTO, LEYERON LA PLACA Y LOS AFORISMOS Y SE TOMARON FOTOS.
Students from school Justo Sierra and Colegio Valladolid accompanied Mayor of Mazatlan and his wife to run through the city. Before we began,
Mayor lighted the Peace Torch and began running through the historic part of the city of Mazatlan until arriving at City Hall. A total of half a mile or 800 meters.

The event was very meaningful and transcendental, we began with the lighting of the torches and a minute of silence with Mayor, city officials and students.

At the end of the ceremony the city let go of a beautiful white dove and brought out a banner that said: “Peace Begins with a Smile”.
The energy of peace and harmony was very strong and moving to all.
The Mayor of Mazatlan, his wife, Dr. Baquera and Lic. Guadalupe received the Torch Bearer Award Medal to recognized them for their efforts of peace
in the city of Mazatlan.
