Bujumbura Airport Reception - St. Blaise Hotel

Reported by Vasanti Niemz

Pierre from Cameroon and Manatita from UK arriving at Bujumbura airport,

welcomed by representatives of the Ministry of Culture and Sports, led by Mme Irambona.

Martina (CZ) and Vasanti (DE) arrived the day before, 2 more team members are due the next day, Oct. 4th.

St Blaise Hotel - our rooms are simple, but the setting is very beautiful, with lots of open space and fresh air.

View towards the hills northwest of Bujumbura

Our first Peace Run cat-friend.

Getting ready for the big event the next day - it was supposed to take place Saturday 5th, but was changed at short notice to Friday 4th, so that school children did not have to come back on Saturday. And 2 of our Peace Runners are still to arrive on the 4th!

Grateful to start the Peace Run East Africa from such a peaceful base.

Getting the Peace Run Certificates ready and signed for schools and dignitaries.

Nature's beauty everywhere...

First hippo encounter

and first hippo feeding....

Fascinating to watch the bicycles as main means of transport for all kinds of things.

The rising sun on the wall felt very symbolical and a good omen for the start of our East African Peace Run adventure.

Torch carried by
Manatita Hutchison (Great Britain), Martina Šimoníková (Czech Republic), Phaedra Rosario (United States), Pierre Bell (Cameroon), Vasanti Niemz (Germany).
