As ACT Patron of the Sri Chinmoy Oneness-Home Peace Run, I am delighted to be able to support this inspirational event, which has spread a message of peace and goodwill across Australia and the world for many years.
I am particularly pleased that Canberra has again been chosen to host the closing ceremony at the conclusion of the Run. The impressive mix of athletes from so many nations participating in this year's Run embodies the spirit of international togetherness and harmony that underpins this commendable event. I wish the runners, their support crews and the organisers all the very best during this year's 3,500 kilometre adventure from Uluru to the nation's capital. I encourage all the communities along the way to support the runners, and to take inspiration from the participants as they promote their message of peace. I look forward to welcoming the torch back in Canberra in November, and would like to echo the words of Sri Chinmoy, who said: “There shall come a time when this world of ours will be flooded with peace. Who is to bring about this radical change? It will be you, you and your sisters and brothers. You and your oneness-heart will spread peace throughout the length and breadth of the world.” |
