The following words were offered by the Irwin family to the Peace Run:
We all cherish the idea of a world where peace and happiness pervade within each one of us. It is imperative that we all work together and make the world one big global family. We believe the Peace Run is one such event that inspires us to particpate and bring about this change. The family at Australia Zoo are thrilled to be part of such a marvelous event and we take great pride in being the Queensland State Patrons for 2013. The Peace Run is a global torch relay, launched by Sri Chinmoy in 1987. It seeks to promote international friendship and understanding. Runners carry a flaming torch, a symbol of harmony, passing it from hand to hand, and heart to heart, travelling through over 100 nations. It inspires all of us to develop an understanding of cultural, racial and regional diversity in Australia and around the world. |
Here at Australia Zoo we have many animals living in harmony as one big family. This gives us the chance to educate the world about animal conservation and play a role in protecting all wildlife.
In the spirit of making the world a better place, we send our best wishes for every success to the runners, organisers and all those who will participate in this historic relay. We encourage all Australians to express their hopes and wishes for peace and harmony through the Peace Run.
Yours is the first step!
