Heidelberg

Reported by Dipavajan Renner

The Peace Run arrived in Germany and started in one of Germany's most beautiful cities: Heidelberg!

Our first meeting of the day brought us to the "Freie Waldorfschule Heidelberg".

...the kids lined up for the team...

...our Pinguin is a real star....

...after the presentation we ran with the kids once around the school....

...a very scenic run...

...they have lots of animals in the school. What a pig!

...the children prepared school-made sweets for our team...

Thank you for the great meeting!

The French-German school "Ecole Pierre & Marie Curie" was next:

...a colorful sea of balloons attached to kids with big smiles awaited us....

...the kids attached greeting cards to the balloons...

...and off they went - around the world!

..also the smallest held the torch....

..the kids prepared drawings for us....

...a group picture before the stampede...

...here we go: once around the school!

...highly welcome refreshments after the run in the heat....

...also for us....

...high five for a good bye...

Thank you for the enthusiastic participation!

...a great view over the old part of Heidelberg...

...and some meetings along the road..

..we reached the "Völkerkunde Museum" - museum of art from all around the world. Our good old friend Dr. Margareta Pavaloi welcomed us....

12 years ago we planted a tiny peace tree. Now its already a big tree...

Thank you for the nice meeting!

...we ran through the old part of the city...

Dr. Eckart Würzner, mayor of Heidelberg, received the peace torch!

In the afternoon we left Heidelberg and arrived in Bad Mergentheim.
A big "Thank You" to the Flair Hotel Lochner in Markelsheim....

..the "Hotel Alte Münze" in Bad Mergentheim..

...and the "Best Western Parkhotel" in Bad Mergentheim for hosting our team!
