Our Starting Ceremony took place in front of Sakudaira Bullet Train of Saku City, Nagano. Enthusiastic children from two kindergartens welcomed us.
出発セレモニーは、長野県佐久市の佐久平駅前で盛大に行われました。中佐都保育園と岩村田保育園のみなさんがランナーチームをお出迎え。

Now it's the second preschool's turn. Their taiko drumming performance was really nice, too.
中佐都保育園のみんなもきれいにそろった太鼓の演技を見せてくれました。外国人のランナーが特に感心感激。
Mr. Seiji Yanagida, the mayor of Saku City, warmly welcomed the Peace Run team and was honored to be chosen as the startinng city.
柳田清二佐久市長が市を代表してピース・ランを歓迎してくださいました。市長は去る６月にモンゴル親善訪問の際もトーチを掲げてくださっています。
Mr. Toshinobu Ichikawa, The City Council Chairman, also gave a welcome speech.
市川稔宣市議会議長も祝辞を下さいました。
And Mr. Haruhara, the president of Ohara Kougyo, the company which made the relay torch for 1998 Nagano Winter Olympics. When we created the world's largest relay torch back in April in honor of Sri Chinmoy's 50 years in the West, we made the exact replica of this Olympic relay torch.
そして大原工業の春原晃夫社長です。シュリ・チンモイの西洋での平和活動50周年を記念して、去る４月に世界一のオリンピック聖火トーチを制作しましたが、その時は大原工業制作の1998年長野冬季オリンピックに使用された聖火トーチが元になり、春原さんご夫妻との素敵な出会いになりました。
As a token of appreciation from everybody for all he has done for us so far, we presented the Certificate of Appreciation to Mr. Haruhara.

The next school is Minami Elementary School of Ueda City, and all students, 720 all together, participated.
30kmほど走って、上田市立南小学校を訪れます。全校生徒720人が参加してくれました。
This world map has been travelling from Russia since the start of the Asia-Pacific Peace Run. Children in each country sign their names on or around their country.

Our last school for the day was Susohana Elementary of Nagano City with the 5th graders. Yahva from Tokyo is our coodinator and he was the MC of the program.
リレーは早くも長野市に到着。裾花小学校５年生のみんなと交流します。司会を務めるヤハヴァは日本コースをまとめるコーディネーターです。

Our last ceremony of the day was at Nagano City Hall. Mr. Higuchi, the Deputy Mayor of Nagano, and many staff members welcomed us.
初日最後のセレモニーは長野市役所。樋口副市長とたくさんの職員のみなさんが迎えてくださいました。
Deputy Mayor's encouraging and heart-warming speech gave us a lot of joy. Thank you so much!

And the peace torch was passed around everybody present there. They looked really happy and excited like small children!
たくさんの職員の方たちにも、平和への願いをこめて、順番にトーチを握っていただきました。
And off we ran a little more to the next city Suzaka.
