Today's relay started from Suzaka City Hall, where the city's 'yuru-chara' mascot 'Kanna-chan' welcomed us with her cute smile.
今日のリレーは長野県須坂市の市役所から。須坂のゆるキャラ、かんなちゃんがチームをおでむかえ。

This is the real kanna flower. The city chose this flower as their symbol of peace, since this bright red flower is the first kind that bloomed in Hiroshima after the atom bomb-only after 1 month!
これがかんなの花。広島原爆投下の後、誰もが花なんて咲かないだろうと思っていたのに、わずか一ヶ月後に始めて花を咲かせたのがこのかんなの花だそうです。須坂市はそのエピソードから、これを市の平和の象徴にしています。

At our final destination of the day Joetsu City of Niigata Prefecture, we split into 2 teams and visited Inada Elementary and Tonome Elementary, meeting 100 and 160 energetic children respectively.
今日の到着地新潟県上越市に着くと、２チームに分かれて稲田小学校（100名）と戸野目小学校（160名）を訪問。エネルギーいっぱいの生徒たちと一緒に遊びました。
And our final ceremony of the day was at Joetsu City Hall. The staff created a welcoming banner for us.
そして今日最後のセレモニーは上越市役所で。たくさんの職員の方が、私たちのためにバナーを作って待っていてくださいました。
Everyone present held the torch wishing for peace.

Off to Sado Island on a car ferry, where we will have a full day of running and ceremonies.
