We started our day with some delicious treats before beginning our running from the legendary Mazama Store. We were thrilled to be joined by local runners James Varner and Kesia Lopez
Mazama is a famous spot for skiing, with hundreds of miles of trails starting right from the town! Putu from Indonesia only first saw snow yesterday and now shes a skier!

It was such a beautiful day for a run! Our first stretch, from Mazama to Winthrop, was 14 miles long...Some of us decided to run the whole way!
Our local coordinators, Stota and Daulot, used to live in this area and were so thrilled that we could visit some of their old friends along the way! Here we are meeting with Gloria Spiwak.

We were delighted to have the opportunity to offer our Torch Bearer Award to Sally Portman, who has been the librarian at the Winthrop Public Library and devotedly served the community of Winthrop for over 30 years! Sally is also a dear friend of Stota and Daulot. Thank you Sally!
Next stop was to the Metow Trails Headquarters where we met James DeSalvo, who threw on his running shoes and joined us for a few miles!
Running through the charming cowboy town of Winthrop was fun!

Nandita drove the team for the afternoon- it was great to have her with us- usually she is working hard at home on many of the behind the scene details involved with Peace Run Directing!
In Winthrop James changed into his new Peace Run t-shirt and led the way to Twisp! James runs and also organises many races with his business, Rainshadow Running.
Plenty of sunscreen was essential today!!
Mananya and Stota supplied the water- we needed a lot!

Finally we reached Twisp and made a bunch of new friends there! Several team members ran the whole way- 23 miles in total!
Some Americorps workers happened to be in the area, and were very happy to hold the torch and share their hopes for peace.
Thank you so much to James and Kesia for being on our team for the day! We hope this is just the beginning of a long friendship!
Our next stop was to KTRT The Root Radio, where Don Ashford interviewed Harita, James, Daulot and Arpan. Don has been hosting this channel for many years and we were so grateful to meet him and be inspired by his whole hearted commitment to serving the community and promoting music and peace. Thank you so much Don for all you have done and are doing!

To finish the evening we celebrated Nikolaus' 26th birthday with an array of local pies- yum!! Nikolaus , pictured centre with the new blue t-shirt, is on the team for the whole 4 month journey, along with Bansidhar, to his right. We are all so grateful for his kind and self-giving presence on our team!
