Today we are in Montreal for a full day of running and events. Our scenic 10 km run that was interspersed with meetings with special guests began in beautiful Old Montreal.
Aujourd’hui nous sommes à Montréal pour une journée entière de course et d’événements. Notre parcours de 10 km sur de bucoliques sentiers a été entrecoupé par des rencontres avec des invités(es) tout à fait spéciaux commençant dans le magnifique Vieux Montréal.
Our first stop was at a plaza in Old Montreal where we were greeted by Fanny Magini, borough mayor of Outre -Ments who was representing Mayor Valerie Plante. We were also greeted by city councilor Allan Villancourt who is a triathlete who joined us in running the first leg of our journey.
Mme Magini, and M Villaincourt gave speeches with warm words of encouragement for the runners and expressed their own hopes for peace.
Notre premier arrêt était Musée Pointe-à-Callière dans le Vieux-Montréal où nous avons été accueilli par la Conseillère de l’Arrondissement d’Outremont, Fanny Magini qui représentait la Mairesse Valérie Plante. Nous avons également été accueilli par le Conseiller Municipal Alain Vaillancourt et sa conjointe, tous deux triathlètes qui se sont joint à nous pour la première partie de notre aventure. Madame Magini et M.Vaillancourt ont offerts des discours avec des mots de bienveillance et d’encouragement pour les coureurs et ont exprimé leurs espoirs pour la Paix.
We were also joined by a friend of the team, Bing. He is an enthusiastic runner and peace lover and he joined the team for the entire 10km journey.
Nous étions également accompagnés par un ami de l’Équipe, Bing. Il est un coureur enthousiaste et amant de la Paix. Il a couru avec l’Équipe pour toute l’aventure du 10 km..

A certificate of appreciation was offered to Fanny Magini by our Montreal team leader, Vidura Groulx. Fanny was a most lovely and gracious presenter, and we thoroughly enjoyed our meeting with her.

Here the team is at the end of the first leg of the journey. They are visiting a Peace tree that was planted and dedicated in August of 2014 on the Mcgill University campus.
Ici le groupe a atteint la fin de la première partie de l’aventure. Ils visitent L’Arbre de Paix qui a été planté et dédié en août 2014 sur le Campus de l’université McGill.
This is the dedication plaque at the Peace Tree. There are many Peace Trees planted around the world as an inspiration to all who visit them to never give up on the dream of becoming one world family.

Along the road we met many people who were eager to hold the Peace torch and make a wish for peace.

These two gentleman were extremely enthusiastic in their meeting with Vidura and the team.

We met an American couple Bob and Clare Keilbach. Bob was a veteran, and he and Clare embraced our message of peace, and they also carried their own message of peace.
Coincidentally, they live in Flushing Queens, and are frequent visitors of the Oneness Fountain Heart restaurant which is run by students of Sri Chinmoy.
Nous avons rencontré un couple des États-Unis, Bob et Clare Keilbach. Bob est un ancien combattant. Lui et Clare embrasse notre message pour la Paix, et ils portent aussi leur propre message de Paix. Par pure coïncidence, ils habitent à Flushing, Queens; et ils visitent fréquemment le restaurant «Oneness Fountain Heart» (Fontaine d’unité du Coeur) qui appartient aux étudiants de Sri Chinmoy.

Our next stop was the Oratoire de St. Joseph, which is a large and beautiful place of prayer. Although it is Catholic in origin, it is open to people of all faiths, and many, many people come to the Oratoire for special blessings. We met many people who embraced our message and were happy to hold the torch.
Notre prochain arrêt était à l’Oratoire St-Joseph, qui est une immense et magnifique cathédrale de prières. Même si d’origine catholique, cet endroit est ouvert aux gens de toutes les cultures et croyances; et beaucoup, beaucoup de gens viennent à L’Oratoire pour des bénédictions bien spéciales. Nous y avons rencontré plusieurs personnes qui ont adoré notre message et étaient très heureux de tenir le Flambeau.

This family from the Wemotaci First Nations stopped to hold the Peace Torch with us, it was nice to meet you Valerie Quitich, Alex Petiquay and Germain Petiquay.

This is a new Peace Tree that was dedicated at the base of the Oratoire. The tree was blessed by Father Grou, the rector of the Oratoire.
Voici un nouveau Arbre de Paix qui a juste tout été inauguré au pied de l’Oratoire. L’Arbre a été béni par le Père Grou, Recteur de l’Oratoire.

Devaki Groulx set up a meeting with two incredible young men. Innocent (on the right ) was orphaned and survived the genocide in Rwanda. He received the Torch Bearer award for his tireless work for peace through music. He wrote a song about the Rwandan genocide that has been heard world wide and he continues to encourage people to find peaceful solutions through his songs. Henri Kobay (left) is also a fantastic musician and has earned, along with Innocent a special scholarship to study English at McGill.
Devaki Groulx a organisé une rencontre incroyable avec un jeune artiste. Innocent (à droite) était un orphelin qui a survécu au génocide au Rwanda. Il a reçu le Médaillon d’Honneur du Flambeau de la Paix pour son travail acharné pour la Paix dans sa musique. Il a composé un chant racontant le génocide du Rwanda qui a été entendu partout à travers le monde et à travers ses chants et musique, il continue à encourager ses auditeurs à découvrir de solutions pacifiques. Henri Kobay (à gauche) est également un musicien fantastique et s’est mérité tout comme Innocent, une bourse pour étudier l’anglais à McGill.

Ms. Popeanu gave a beautiful and inspiring speech to welcome the team, and it was clear that she is deeply dedicated to her community and creating unity between people of all races and religions.
Voici Hastakamala, membre de l’Équipe avec la Conseillère municipale de Côte-des-Neiges. Madame Magda Popeanu. Madama Popeanu a offert un très beau et inspirant discours sur la Paix pour accueillir les coureurs. Il était évident qu’elle est profondément dédiée à sa communauté, créant ainsi l’unité entre les gens de toutes races ou religions.

Karl-Andre St. Victor received the Torch Bearer Award for his work as the director of the Chalet Kent, a youth center that welcomes and engages children from Cote de Neiges. He earned this award for his tireless work with youth and his attitude of never giving up on kids, no matter what their challenges might be.
Karl-André St-Victor reçoit le Médaillon d’honneur du Flambeau de la Paix pour son travail en tant que Directeur du Chalet Kent, «La Maison des Jeunes», qui reçoit les jeunes de Côte-des-Neiges. Il reçoit cette Honneur pour son travail acharné avec les jeunes et son attitude de «N’abandonnez jamais» avec les jeunes, qu’importe que soient les problèmes ou défis.
