Reported by Grahak Cunningham

Our ceremony today was at Mount Lofty, a Sri Chinmoy Peace Blossom Summit. The plaque reads:
“Mount Lofty Summit, with its majestic natural beauty and panoramic view of the city of Adelaide, provides a focal point for visitors from all over the world. This delightful location serves as a reminder to all who visit of the grace and nobility of human endeavour when it is in harmony with nature and dedicated to higher ideals. The dedication of Mount Lofty Summit as a Sri Chinmoy Peace Summit counts it among a family of over 700 Sri Chinmoy Peace-Blossoms in over 30 countries worldwide.”
“The source of Sri Chinmoy Peace-Blossoms family is the spirit of oneness. Its purpose is to manifest a strong sense of internationalism and fellowship among people from all countries.”
And it finishes with a quote from Sri Chinmoy, "Peace is not merely the absence of war, peace is our inseparable onenes with all.”

Pictured above at Mount Lofty are the Deputy Mayor of Adelaide Hills Cr Jan-Claire Wisdom, Principal of Bridgewater Primary, Barb Jenkins and torch bearer representing the Graham F. Smith Peace Foundation, Leonie Ebert.

Thanks to elder Uncle Lewis for giving us the welcome to country. Uncle Lewis Yerloburka O’Brien is a Kaurna (pronounced Ghana) Elder. A recipient of the Order of Australia Medal in 2014. Uncle Lewis is widely regarded as a leader of reconciliation and custodian of Kaurna (Ghana)culture. He was a previous torch bearer recipient and was proudly wearing his medal.

The Deputy Mayor offers some inspiring words.

The rain god stayed away this morning but it was very chilly. The kids braved the cold!

The students from Bridgewater Primary School attending with Principal Barb Jenkins explain what their Sadako Peace Group have been doing. They inspired thousands with their peace activities.

We are very fortunate and grateful to have had the Mount Lofty Singers sing for us and here the Choir’s President, Pat Mudge is saying some words abouth the Mount Lofty Singers and peace while they set up.

The sang 'Imagine' by John Lennon and 'I have a Dream' inspired by the words of Martin Luther King. They were amazing.

The conductor of the choir spoke Russian so Sasha was very happy!

Torch Bearer Leonie Ebert representing the Graham F.Smith Foundation.

Januja and Chakori organised bouquets for all the amazing guests.

And cooked cupcakes. They were delicious.

Cr Jan-Claire Wisdom loves Iceland and Grahak has been there on the Peace Run.

Thanks to Andrea, Angela and Amy and the staff at Mt Lofty Summit for allowing us to use this beautiful and inspiring venue. This photo is taken in their gift store.

A big thank you to Danny at the Nicholas Royal Motel in Hay who donated accommodation for three of our runners as they drove our team van back to Canberra.

Our two tireless Peace Run Coordinators, Helen and Ivan Marek, whose selfless efforts made the 2018 Australia Peace Run an unforgettable experience for all involved.
