Maribor - Ptuj

Reported by Dipavajan Renner

We left Maribor and enjoyed a relaxing run to Ptuj....

...a real highlight: we visited Dejan Zavec, IBF Welterweight Boxing Champion from 2009 - 2011!

...newcomers...

Dejan gave us a incredible warm welcome. We felt immediately like home...

...we entered the boxing ring for a group picture...

...and received autographs...

...together with Dejan we ran to the city hall of Ptuj...

Ptuj is the oldest city in Slovenia - still many old traditional buildings dominate the old part of the city...

..at the city hall the deputy mayor welcomed us and received the torch...

Thank you for the warm welcome!

Ptuj was dedicated as a "Sri Chinmoy Peace City" in 2012 as a member of a world-wide project to inspire mankind.

Our delicious lunch was provided by "Gostilna PP". The manager is already a good firend of the Peace Run and supported the Run whenever we were in Ptuj.

Finally we left Ptuj and experienced the real country-side of Slovenia...

...Dejan Zavec and a group of runners joined us on our final stretch to Juršinci.

Vineyards everywhere...

...a real memory from former Yugoslavia...

...our new driver...

...the final km's...

In Juršinci the mayor welcomed us.

...sweets and refreshments ended the meeting. Thank you for the great event!

In the evening we were invited once more by the "Gostilna Ribič", a first-class restaurant in Ptuj. The owners are good friends of the Run and support us whenever we are in Ptuj. Thank you for the great meal!

Our accommodation was sponsored by Hotel Primus. What would be Ptuj without a visit to the Spa. So the Camping Terme Ptuj once more hosted our team. Thank you for the support!

The Slovenian Peace Run 2013 came to an end. Our gratitude to all organisers, runners and friends for this amazing week. we will carry the memory in our hearts. See you soon again in 2014!
