Braga - Guimarães

A perfect day to start: the panoramic view from Bom Jesus - Braga Ex Libris - one of the famous pilgrimage places in Portugal!

...beautiful tiles and architecture...

...runners from the "Sporting Club de Braga" joined us, ready for a morning run...

...and ready to hold the torch, too...

The Mayor of Braga held the torch while the priest of the "Bom Jesus" - church blessed the torch...

...what a beautiful place! Thank you for the nice welcome!

Filomena Costa and Mario Silva also joined...

Sameiro Araujo, city representative and coach of some athletes, held the torch, too...

...we went down the famous stairs of Bom Jesus...

...running through Braga...

A symbolic lap on the track of the "Primeiro de Maio" stadium in Braga ended the local Run.

Thank you Braga for running with us!

...also thanks to the local police for the great support!

Our friend Fernando carried the torch all the way from Braga to Taipas...

...where many local athletes greeted us...

We had a brief stop to enjoy the Peace Run song played by a small brass band...

...the runners got in the right mood...

Our busy schedule of the day prepared by the city...

...and we proceeded to the next place...

...approaching Guimarães, the group of runners grew bigger and bigger...

...another greeting committee was ready to the join the Run...

Dulce Felix, famous Portuguese World Champion, came along holding the torch and leading the increasing group of runners...

Neno, a famous Portuguese football goal-keeper, also lead the Run once we entered the city.

Zumba dancers of greeted the runners...

While the head of the local Red Cross held the torch, the deputy mayor, Neno and Dulce were taking Selfies...

We kept running through the city for quite a few more meetings...

On the way we took a nice sightseeing route, for example passing by the castle of Guimarães...

...beautiful churches and gardens...

...happy citizens...

...artistic tiles...

...and the statue of the famous first Portuguese King: Dom Afonso Henriques!

City representatives awaited us at the city hall.

Followed by a great performance of John Lennon´s "Imagine", the children sang the Peace Run Song very nicely...

...we passed the torch officially to Guimarães!

The mayor welcomed us with kind words.

...the torch went from hand to hand...

We proceeded on our "touristic" journey...

...Guimarães is a city of knights...

Os Torcanta (ADCL) sang tradicional songs of Minho for us...

...we went to our next meeting at "Lar de Sta. Estefânia e Centro Juvenil S. José"...

"Canta, canta amigo canta" is a beautiful song and it was perfectly performed by the kids...

A soulful moment created by the Coro Juvenil...

The drummers "Loucos do Ritmo" lead the parade to the next meeting...

We brought the Torch to "casa da crianca", a city-place for children who need special care...

The place had a very nice garden. We all enjoyed the meeting!

...and arrived at the "Academia de Musica Valentim Moreira de Sa".

The music-school performed beautifully...

We finally reached the Tourel Square where we were greeted by the "Tuna da UNAGUI".
