Today the Peace Run was welcomed to the schools in Canberra. First stop, Kingston Foreshore to stretch our legs and run the Peace Torch through some more of South Canberra.
Arriving into St Benedict's Primary School in Narrabundah.
The Peace Run as been to this school on a number of occasions before and was thrilled to meet some of the students who had welcomed the Peace Run here 5 years ago.
The students were great at guessing the countries we were from. with a fellow Zimbabwean guessing her country! They are learning Japanese; the number of hands that flew up when Harashita spoke just one word was surprising and joyful all at once. All the students are learning Japanese and took joy in practising a few words with Harashita.

The student Environmental Leaders came up to receive the Certificate of Appreciation on behalf of the school. From left: Augustine Le House de Saint Seine, Arwyn Scott (now a senior, held the Peace Torch when she was a junior at this school), Peace Run veteran Prabuddha Nicol from Perth, and Hunter Riordan.
After taking time to feel peace in all our hearts, the students and Peace Runners went out to their back field to hold the torch and make a wish for peace before running around the school grounds .
One hour flew by and it was time to leave, bidding farewell to all our new friends and making our way to St. Monica's Parish Primary School.
The Principal, Lisa Harris enthusiastically welcomed the team.
Waiting behind the hall so we can "run in" without the kids seeing us beforehand is part of the fun :-)
A richly diverse school with students from many different countries; when we asked who either had parents or they themselves were born in another country, a vast majority of hands flew into the air.
We all want a more peaceful world!! You can see you the donated items on the back of the stage as they get ready for their fete in a few weeks.
Harashita spoke to the students about the importance of feeling Peace inside their hearts, the students then offering other wonderful words for Peace.

Hartia invited all the teachers up to express how important their job is and we all gave them a round of applause as they ran around the students wit the Peace Torch. The applause was nearly deafening.

The students all had the chance to hold the Peace Torch as they left to return to class.
The year 6 students stayed back to run with the Peace Torch, building in joy and speed as we flew around the school.
A perfect end to two wonderful schools in Canberra!!
