Seattle, WA - Port Angeles, WA

Reported by Brahmata Michael, Jennifer Cluck 17.0 mi

The morning began with an early ride on the Washington State Ferry from Edmonds to Kingston.

The team was a little sleepy...

The sight of orcas in the distance awoke us all.

Jagadambika and her adorable puppy Molly joined us in Kingston to make a peace wish.

Mayor David King read a Proclamation declaring June 26 Peace Run Day in the city of Port Townsend.

We presented our certificate of appreciation to the city.

Our runners from Canada and America...

Daulot from Seattle led the team to our next meeting at the Jefferson County Recreation Center.

We played the country guessing game and the international team introduced themselves.

The children offered us wishes to carry with us as we travel north to Canada.

"My wish for peace is that Ukraine and Russia can work out their problems with words and not with violence."

Jessica, the Director of the club had tremendous enthusiasm for the run.

The children spontaneously ran around this tree chanting "Peace Run! Peace Run! Peace Run!..."

Fort Worden State Park is the site of a Sri Chinmoy Peace Mile, established in 1988.

Running on the Sri Chinmoy Peace Mile brought joy to the hearts of everyone.

At Robin Hill Farm County Park in Sequim.

Alma Seniuk from Sequim joined the team for the day. Thank you to Alma for your enthusiastic participation in the run!

Harita from New Zealand leads the team on the Olympic Discovery Trail.

This couple took time out of their daily twenty mile bikeride to make a wish together.

We met this sweet deer.

The Olympic Discovery Trail winds all the way to Port Angeles. This thirteen mile stretch was such a thrill for the runners.

A friendly local offered us fresh strawberries at her home but unfortunatley, we had to keep on running!

As we approached Port Angeles the views were amazing.

Brahmata runs the torch into the ceremony.

Deputy Mayor Patrick Downie welcomed the team to the City of Port Angeles.

Dan DiGuilio, Mayor of City of Port Angeles offered us a Peace Proclamation.

Nathan West from Port Angeles honored the team by giving Arpan the Commemorative City Coin.

Michael Rivers, accompanied by of Christian Jenson on the electric guitar, treated us to one of Michael's original songs about peace and hope.

Tessa Rivers holds the Peace Run torch and makes her wish.

The Reverend Vince Murray, Retired Pastor of Faith Episcopal Church offered the closing benediction. Pastor Murray was joined by his wife, Anna.

Mayor DiGuilio and Deputy Mayor Downie received gifts from Abanna as a thank you for welcoming the runners and hosting us in the beautiful city of Port Angeles.

We were briefed by our police escort before making our way to the next event.

Reverend Murray and Anna joined us for our walk to the Port Angeles Parks & Recreation Day Camp.

Abanna is excited to meet Alexis Cariello, from the Day Camp after many weeks of planning to greet the young day campers.

High fives all around.

Do you like pizza? Everyone easily guessed the country of Sandro, our Italian teammate.

A moment of silence, in the midst of a busy day.

On your mark, get set, go! The kids are treaded to skits with a message. Is this race harmonious or not?

The young judges give the thumbs up and say 'yes'! It is harmonious.

More skits and more harmony.

Later, all the campers had a chance to carry the torch in a relay.

Passing the torch...

Thank you Katie Campbell and the Red Lion Hotel for the great complimentary accommodations. The hot tub was amazing and a welcome reprieve for tired legs. Everyone slept well!

The multi-talentented Michael, and his wife Nancy, later prepared a fantastic gourmet dinner for the team (with gluten-free brownies, ice cream and fresh-picked strawberries for dessert!) A heatfelt thank you to the Rivers family for opening their lovely home to us, it was the perfect way to end our day.

"There is only
One perfect road and
That road is ahead of you,
Always ahead of you."
