Oldenburg - Buxtehude

Reported by Abhinabha Tangerman 120.0 km

From Oldenburg we ran to Delmenhorst, where the mayor received us on the town square.

Some people had come because they had read about the Peace Run in the newspaper.

Local press was there too.

Pramodan brought his accordeon along.

Our next stop was the city of Bremen, where the mayor ran with us.

Big city square with famous statues.

This statue represents the famous fairytale of the donkey, the dog, the cat and the cock. It is believed that holding the leg of the donkey brings good luck!

Some triathletes were present as well.

City centre of Bremen.

Running to the next stop: buddhist centre Karma Kagyu in Bremen.

On our way there we ran through a peace-tunnel, where a group of peace-lovers were waiting for us to pass by.

The tunnel was beautifully decorated with peace aphorisms and sayings, all organized by a dedicated group led by this woman on the left.

Arriving at Karma Kagyu buddhist centre.

We had a short lecture and a group meditation inside the centre, which belongs to the Tibetan lineage of buddhism.

Then we enjoyed cake!

Group photo at the buddhist centre.

Running towards our next stop.

We had a meeting in the small picturesque town of Zeven, where the mayor greeted us very kindly.

He offered us a beautiful photobook of the town.

Even statues can participate in the Peace Run.

As a nice surprise the mayor treated us to ice-cream at the local ice cream parlour!

The owner of the ice cream shop gave us all ice-cream for free. It was delicious!

Inquisitive passers-by.

We ended the day in Buxtehude. The mayor received the Peace Torch at the city hall.

She brought her staff as well, who have their own running club!

Maquette of the city. We are there!

We ran another 2K with the runners from the city hall.

A great way to foster team spirit in the city council: let everybody run!

At the end we released peace balloons.

Carrying our wishes for peace to all horizons.
