Queens, New York

Reported by Harita Davies

For the second year in a row, Blueberry Summer Enrichment Program, run by Mr. Amit Guha and Dr. Smita Guha, welcomed the Peace Run! Here our international team of runners are preparing to run in.

Fueling up the torch...

Nastya from Ukraine leads the runners in.

Singing the Peace Run song.

Lunthita led an exercise in feeling peace in the heart.

Dr Smita Guha led the children singing a song for us. Smita is a very accomplished Indian Classical singer.

Children guess the countries the runners are from.

Brahmata is from Canada...

Ricardo is from Portugal...

Nastya is from Ukraine

Jayasalini and Marina demonstrating a Russian dance.

Todorka is from Macedonia.

one of the kids pointing out Nepal ;)

Singing the World Harmony Run song with actions is always fun for everyone!

We performed some skits of peaceful and not peaceful actions for the kids to judge..

Time to pass the torch and make wishes for peace...

Mr Guha led the kids running the torch around the school yard.

Afterwards, we had time to hang out with the children, or race with them as in this photo!

Brahmata from Canada always enjoys being with the kids!

Dr Smita and Mr Guha told us a little about the philosophy of Blueberry, and how after struggling to find a summer school for their children, they ended up starting one of their own!

The children presented us with this wonderful work of art that they all contributed towards.

Our team members from Bulgaria will take it to display at a Peace Week they are holding there!

These girls read out what they had written.
It was twin day at Blueberry, so these friends are all wearing matching tshirts ;)

We presented this artwork by Peace Run founder Sri Chinmoy, entitled "Imagine and dream the world peace dream".
A big thank you to Dr Smita and Mr Amit Guha, along with the teachers and councellors, Johhana Gonzalez, Alexandra Pistocchi, Ivette, Nora and Ina!

One big happy family!

Afterwards we were treated to a delicious Italian-Indian lunch by Mr Guha, who made a chickpea dish and salad for us, and also sponsored a pasta bake from his nearby Italian Restaurant, Riviera V Pizzeria.

We all left fully nourished, happy and grateful!

In the oneness-heart
There is abiding peace.
With our oneness-heart
We are all trying to create
A peaceful world-family.
-Sri Chinmoy
