Waalre - Maastricht

Reported by Abhinabha Tangerman 120.0 km

Our gratitude to Niek and Jenneke for hosting us once again on the Peace Run!

We met these nice people on the way in Leendertstrijp.

More spontaneous supporters of the Peace Run.

Optical illusion.

Holland = cycling

Holland = windmills

A spontaneous meeting with a journalist from a local paper, who saw us running.

The river Maas (Meuse) accompanied us the entire day.

Beautiful churches.

In Swalmen we presented the Peace Run for 170 children.

Feeling peace in the heart.

Touching the Peace Torch is, well, touching!

Thanks kids!

Scary guy!

Running due south!

Cyclists for peace.

Meeting runners from Beek.

We ran 2K to their beautiful town.

The mayor warmly welcomed us. Yes, that's the mayor, decked out in full running regalia!

Many town's people greeted us.

There were nice refreshments.

The mayor, Christine van Basten-Bodin, spoke warm words of appreciation.

Jo de Bie (right) organized the whole event. Thanks Jo!

The Peace Torch made its round through the audience.

Beek loves peace!

The mayor joined us for a short run. She has to be the fittest mayor in the country!

Here she goes together with her colleagues.

Giving the right example for her citizens: be fit and be peaceful!

At the end of a long day we arrived in Maastricht.

Walking through beautiful streets on the way to the restaurant for a well deserved evening meal!
