Toronto, ON - Brighton, ON

Reported by Salil Wilson 174.0 km

Thank you Devavira, Shivaram and all the staff for so kindly feeding us over the last couple of days.

Next we headed over to the University of Toronto's Multi-Faith Centre for an Inter-Faith Peace Walk.

Susan Kennel Harrison arranged for a 3km walk around the campus.

Shivaram served as our host, organizing all our events in Toronto.

Father Terry has been a good friend and supporter of the Peace Run participating and working with Shivaram organizing events for the Peace Run over many years.

We all introduced ourselves before our walk around the campus.

Mandeep was on hand to document our experiences.

Aparanji from Brazil and Anna from Russia enjoying a new found friendship.

It was great to see Karnayati in Toronto fresh from a 10 day race she completed in late April.

Our route took us past the Ontario Legislative building.

Yatkara hard at work capturing all of the day's events.

After the walk we went into the Multi-Faith Centre to share our concerns, hopes and prayers for the world situation.

Richard Chambers Director of the head of the Multi-Faith Centre offered his sincere admiration and encouragement for the Peace Run.

We each offered a glass pebble to symbolize our concerns for the world and lit a candle for our prayers.

The women's team got started running out of Toronto.

Aparanji is making friends wherever she goes.

The Nottingham YMCA Day Camp in Ajax gave us an enthusiastic welcome.

All the children had made torches.

Thanks so much for your enthusiastic welcome.

Salil headed out to do a few miles towards Cobourg.

See those storm clouds in the background.

Well this is what happened next.

Our team got totally drenched.

We arrived at the Northumberland YMCA Day Camp in Cobourg and the storm totally missed everyone but our team.

Some of the Peace Posters from the Day Campers.

Arpan gets some help from his fellow team members.

It was Peace Week at the YMCA!

Stan Frost, Deputy Mayor of Cobourg, was on hand to welcome the runners.

We planted a Peace Tree.

Deputy Mayor Stan Frost, Councillor Donna Todd and Councillor Forest Rowden with the torch.

The whole summer camp plus, parents, counselors and us.

Certificates of Appreciation for all. Northumberland YMCA CEO Eunice Kirkpatrick holds the Peace Torch.

These people were all recipients of the YMCA Peace Medal.

Of course we had to go for a run. So we formed our peace train.

Much to everyone's delight at the end of the proceedings there was watermelon, lemonade and home baked cookies. YUM!!!

Jaival from Ukraine in the drivers seat.

Please send us a message, we would LOVE to hear from you!
