The Peace Run team has officially arrived, and the first day in Canberra kicks off with a visit to the Sri Chinmoy Marathon Team Cooleman Clip trail event.

The ACT Patron of the Peace Run, Dr Andrew Leigh was out to run 10 km and support the Peace Run! Here he holds the torch with Edgars from Latvia.

Bright and early, the Peace Run team hit the ground running—joining 427 participants, young and old, for an unforgettable day of community and athleticism.

Everyone had a chance to hold the torch and make a wish for peace at registration for the race.

Here are three of the core team members Edgars, Roni and Stacey with the beautiful new Peace Run banner that shows the team's route.

Registration in full swing.

And they are off!

Among the runners, a number of the Peace Run team joined in the event. New Zealand’s Susan Marshall, the NSW coordinator, put in a strong performance, finishing 6th in the competitive 10km event.

Latvia’s Edgars Ancans conquered the challenging, hilly course with ease, finishing in well under an hour.

Prettidutta Thorpe (3315) from New Zealand also finished very well in the 10 km event.

Hastakamala Diaz from Australia took on the 5km run, using the event as the perfect warm-up for the days and weeks of Peace Run ahead.

Bei, our ever helpful and cheerful Peace Run friend going hard.

But she still had time to stop and say hi.

Here the Peace Run Team members help prepare a very welcome vege burger for each competitor. From left Roxanna, Preetidutta, Anastasia and Akzhanar.

Making over 300 burgers in about an hour and a half is a challenge in itself! But perhaps not such a challenge for Caro (centre) who is a professional chef.

With such a hot day the water stations were also very busy.

All in all it was a great pre-start to this monumental run around Australia. The official start is at 7 am tomorrow on 26 April 2025.

Once the festivities of the event were over the team had some time to finalise their preparations and load up the Peace Run vans with the essentials needed for the next 110 days. After dinner at My Rainbow-Dreams and a team briefing we are all set to start the journey around Australia bright and early tomorrow morning.
