Tongaporutu Beach - New Plymouth

Reported by Hastakamala Diaz, Vera Sevastiyanova 70.0 km

Today we visited Mokau School. We were warmly welcomed by the school's motto "Together we can do it".

Eagerly they learned the Peace Run song with us.

We all felt peace in our hearts.

Rathin teaching kids our motto "Peace begins with me".

The kids giving a thumbs up for demonstrating a peaceful situation.

Thank you Mokau school for welcoming us.

Students took turns making a wish for peace.

Eagerly running around the field carrying the flame.

Our next stop - Ahititi School. The school has a warm family feeling.

Hastakamala teaching children our World Harmony Run song...

...as the ukelele keeps the tune.

Having a peaceful moment.

Then we headed outside to hold the Peace Torch and make a wish for peace.

Lets run for peace together!

Thank you Ahititi school, we had a wonderful time.

After that we were welcomed to Uruti School, another sweet country school with a warm family feeling.

We acted out a skit for the kids. A moment later Preetidutta was pulled down by her hair, so Hastakamala could win the race. Children had to show us if they thought it was peaceful or not.

Enjoying the school playground.

In New Plymouth we met with Mayor Neil Holdom.

We had an inspiring and illumining conversation about the history of New Plymouth and the responsibilities of being a mayor. In this photograph Neil is blowing a special horn hand carved for the mayor of New Plymouth by a local Maori artist.

Neil even let us wear his official Mayoral attire- Hastakamala got a taste of how it feels to be a mayor!

Our heartfelt gratitude to Fitzroy Beach Holiday Park for letting us stay in a cosy beachside cabin.
