On our way to our first event we happened upon a huge gathering of Jeep enthusiasts which was taking place in Toledo.
Everyone wanted to hold the torch.
There was a very long parade of Jeeps which everyone really seemed to enjoy.
Next we visited with many volunteers helping out at the Salem Lutheran Church.
We had a very heartfelt ceremony and presented the Torch-Bearer Award to Rev. Michael Hancks is the pastor of the Salem Lutheran Church. He dedicated his life of service to the community in North Toledo and beyond.
The group was in the middle of doing significant renovations to a house next to the church which will serve as a multi-use place serving the community. We learned about all their efforts to help the in the community in Salem.
A delicious lunch was served.
Plus an amazing cake.
We spent time in a gorgeous garden next door which is home to a Sri Chinmoy Peace tree.
Special thanks to Bhaktiananda Pam Summons for making all the arrangements for the last few days and for many years of super dedicated service to the Peace Run in Ohio!
