It isn't easy getting the team up at 5:00, but we were so glad we did. We beat the traffic driving up the Going to the Sun Road in Glacier National Park. Do I need to say it was beautiful?
No one joined this run expecting to see snow, but see snow we did. We felt we were at the top of the world.
Even the local fauna came out to see the peace torch.
We foolishly hoped to also see a grizzly bear, and perhaps we were lucky we did not.
After that side trip, we finally hit the road.
We are honored to be running through Blackfeet land and are grateful for the opportunity.
Ya never know who you'll run into out here on the Peace Run. Today, Dennis and his wife, Christie, stopped to greet the torch. Many moons ago, Dennis once had dinner with our dear friend Bill Pearl and the founder of the Peace Run, Sri Chinmoy.
We were happy to meet James just outside the National Park. What a peace lover.
And Audrey and Nick Tipper too! They were even on their way to an International Peace Garden.
And as quickly as we entered the Rockies we left them behind. The terrain gave way immediately to wide open prairie with more sky above than can even be real. This is Big Sky Country. This will be home for several days to come.
