This morning the Peace Run team started nice and early to run to the first school.

Stopping to meet a group of enthusiastic locals who wanted to hold the peace torch.

Before arriving at Rutaki School.

Here the Peace Run team met the students in their outdoor area...

where they learned about the Peace Run

and sung with us.

The students and teachers then offered a song about peace.

At the conclusion the students ran the Peace Run team out of the school

to send the Peace Runners onto the next school.

Arriving a little early to Te Uki Ou School the team waited just outside the school grounds for the call to come in.

Meeting the students in their cultural room, which is also right next to the ocean.

James Steele - whose birthday it was, received  the Certificate of Appreciation.

All the students formed a circle to hold the torch and make their wish for peace.

A school visit doesn't feel complete until we all run together.

Takitumu School welcomed the Peace Run with the  Turou, a traditional welcome for guests.

With beating drums,

traditional dance and song, it was a moving and powerful welcome.
