Búðardalur - Ólafsvík

Reported by Salil Wilson 150.0 km

The women's team figured they'd get their daily visit to the mechanic out of the way by going first thing and getting a new tire.

There were also some horsehoes for sale but they didn't pick any up.

Meanwhile part of the men's team got running in the wet and rainy conditions.

It was cold, wet and windy.

The weather didn't stop enthusiastic tourists from stopping to get their photo taken.

Meanwhile the women's team started their running section.

and it was just as wet.

The thing about the rain is sometimes the shoulder gets very soft and the tires can sink in really deep. We tried pulling the car out with the other car but the rope broke.

A quick visit to a nereby farmer who came to the rescue with his tractor and we were out in a jiffy.

Farmer holds the torch - thanks for your help.

We stopped in at Skjöldur félagaheimilli for a tree planting with a number of delightfully cute children and their mums.

We ran about 1 km with them into a lovely grove of pine trees.

It was great fun crossing the sheep grates.

We planted another Pine Peace Tree to join the grove.

The youngest torch-holder of the day - 18 months.

Here is the Peace Tree - with a big future ahead of it.

Coming into Stykkishólmur we were met by lots of teenagers.

for anthoer tree planting.

Moments silence for peace.

Keeping peace in the family.

The Peace Tree plaque.

With our cold wet running behind us it was time to visit a local cafe.

Driving to meet our last team running miraculously the sun came out!

Apaguha was so happy he began leaping for joy.

Blue skies!!!

Our newsest team member Savita - all the way from New York - embarked on her first Peace Run in Icleand. Welcome.

She even managed to pick up a couple of well wishers on her first run. She did get a little damp though.

We found oursleves back in lava fields

Gautami found herself getting the attention of quite a number of Arctic Terns.

These birds are quite territorial and the made it well and truly clear that they did not appreciate Gautami running by.

As we approached Grundarfjörður some of the local kids came and joined with us.

We arrived in Grundarfjörður to be met by lots of the citizenry.

They had also procured a tree which they planted dedicated to peace.

As you can see some of them enjoyed a well earned rest.

Next we were up and playing a game running through the Peace Gate made by Simon and Danival.

Reading the Peace Tree plaque.

Second youngest torch-bearer of the day.

These two proprietors wery generously provide lunch for the portion of the team who were lucky enough to be on this part of the run.

Women's team preparing yet another delicious dinner. Rice and Dal this time.
