Chiavenna - St. Moritz

Reported by Sandro Zincarini 50.0 km

We enjoyed our stay in the Ostello al Deserto in Chiavenna. The view of the valley is of a rare beauty.

School Bertacchi starts the day...

Questions and answers...

They gave us beautiful artworks on peace...

...as well as a peace flag signed by all the kids!

The view from Chiavenna is breathtaking.

Paradise Garden is in the background of the San Lorenzo church.

We are welcomed in the "Museo del Tesoro", where most of the religious artifacts of the valley are preserved.

These were the robes used by the priests during the functions.

The main piece of the museum is the "Pace" of Chiavenna, a gold on wood cover of an old gospel. The masterpiece is embroidered with gems and is almost a 1000 years old.
Its name, "Pace", in italian literally means peace.

Elvira, in the middle, played a key role in helping the Peace Run torch to pass through Chiavenna!

An ancient baptism site.

The Paradise Garden from the bottom.

...a common question on the road, where are we?

The last meters before the border...

...and we are greeted by the organizers of the Peace Run in Switzerland!

Chocolate and torch are exchanged...someone made a good deal!
Goodbye Italy and on to Switzerland!
