Leaving Moltepulciano we enjoyed the beautiful countryside...
...we discovered a gate to another dimension...
Sumandala heading for serious lunch...
...new friends...
...after an intense running day we reached Firenze. A few km before entering the city we were joined by the runners from the local club "Gruppo Sportivo Le Torri".
Firenze seen from Piazzale Michelangelo....
in the background the famous cupola of the "Duomo" - the main cathedral of Florence.
Ponte Vecchio, one of the most famous bridges in the world....
...crossing the bridge into the centre of Firenze...
Palazzo Vecchio, the city hall of Firenze...
We were received by Mr. Lorenzo Perra, city representative of Firenze and by UNESCO representative Prof. Silvia Guetta.
Thank you for the kind words!
First rain drops...
...a group picture and more drops...
as we departed for the next meeting the sky opened and rain started to pour down...
The next meeting brought us to the monastry "Fraternità Monastica di Gerusalemme" . We were deeply touched by the soulful songs that the monks and nuns sung for us. Such a peaceful atmosphere!
Thank you for welcoming us!
Our next meeting was at the main Synagoge of Firenze: it is a real architectural marvel blending into the high standards of Firenze...
...totally soaked our runners group met with Rabbi Levi...
...who recited for us a beautiful 200 years old peace prayer...
...the head of the Jewish community received the torch as well...
Thank you for the heartfelt meeting!
...slowly the sun pierced through the clouds...
...our final meeting: the Islamic community in Firenze.
The community representative received the torch...
Thank you for the nice meeting!
What would be a visit to Firenze without seeing the Dome! The cupola was designed by Brunelleschi and the bell tower by Giotto.
Such perfection leaves you slack-jawed...
Back to Palazo Vecchio...
A copy of Michelangelo's David (the original is nearby in the academy of arts) - the most famous statue in the world!
Sun sets in Firenze. Thank you for the great day!
