We started our day in the primary school "De Amicis" in Bologna. Despite the rain a cheerful greeting committee awaited us...
The kids prepared nice banners...
...singin' in the rain...
The passing of the torch is always a highlight...
...the children enjoyed their morning exercise...
...we had the whole square for ourselves...
...happy faces...
Thank you for the warm welcome!
Just around the corner we went to the next school: primary school "Ercolani"...
The kids lined up for "High Five"
It seemed all the kids in Bologna like to be out in the rain: all the children gave us big smiles...
The main task was to avoid the big paddles...
A big "Thank You" for the enthusiastic meeting!
...as we left Bologna the sky cleared up...
We entered the region of Parma - Parmigiano cheese everywhere! The "Parmigiano" is a typical product of the region. A real highlight in Italy!
The quality is amazing, as Adam happily discovered...
...reaching Reggio Emilia...
...the famous theatre of Reggio Emilia, mainly used for Ballet.
Like many other cities in Italy, Reggio Emilia is an architectonic marvel...
The stone on top of the lion is quite polished; probably thousands of people were sitting there already...
Two of our team members went to a typical Italian barber. The barber is a painter while he is waiting for customers...
A church of the order of St. Francis...
The main square...
We were invited into an ongoing meeting of the city council.
The meeting was interrupted for the arrival of the peace torch and the chair-woman read out the Peace Run press-release to all the city council members...
The mayor of Reggio Emilia welomed our team and received the torch. Reggio Emilia is the birthplace of the Italian flag! This one is a copy; the original flag is in the museum nearby.
Another special flag...
We were received in one of the many historic rooms of the city hall.
Special thanks to the (from left to right:) representative for cultural affairs, city council member and the sports-representative of Reggio Emilia.
A group picture ended our inspiring day!
