Masterton - Wellington

Reported by Preetidutta Thorpe 99.0 km

Stonehenge Aotearoa, built by members of The Phoenix Astronomical Society, is a wonderful, modern adaption of the Stonehenge ruins in England.

The acoustics are amazing! The sound builds up and amplifies. Richard Hall stands in the middle and explains the phenomena of stone circles.

We are impressed how the modern stone circle has inspired the continuation of the traditions of story telling and music and created a tangible atmosphere of peace.

We all receive new star signs! The accurate zodiac.

We are honoured to present Torch-Bearer Awards to both Richard and Kay who are doing a truly marvelous service to the community and to New Zealand by maintaining and sharing the wonder of Stonehenge Aotearoa.

Kay Leather and Richard Hall are honored to receive our special award.

Jill Greathead from Carterton District Councillor joins us for our 6:30am meeting and it is an honour to have her there.

Jill is a super runner and is very eager to run with us for our first 3km towards Upper Hutt.

Running into Upper Hutt.

We meet our good friend, Deputy Mayor John Gwilliam. He made a special effort to meet us on a Sunday morning outside the Upper Hutt City Council building.

Exchanging heart-felt and poignant words on peace, especially right now in New Zealand. People we meet are very grateful and moved by our efforts for peace and feel New Zealand really needs love and reassurance at this time.

Thank you John.

We're on our way to Wellington, New Zealand's capital city.

Deeptaksha is fortunate enough to run upon a family fun orienteering event in Lower Hutt.

They warmly embrace the team.

The girls running around the waterfront of Wellington.

Many people are very happy to share their prayers and hopes for peace.

On Sunday evening Wellington city puts on a vigil which 12,000 people attend to pay their respects to the Muslim community of New Zealand and around the world, the families and friends of people killed or injured in Christchurch last Friday, and to embrace all New Zealanders as one family, united together.

The feeling of oneness and togetherness of the whole nation is very moving.

This exceptional young New Zealander is making her valuable contribution to peace in our world.

We feel people's sadness and suffering and hope the peace torch may bring a touch of hope.

The peace flame is used to light other flames of hope.

Then more candles are lit. Just like peace, from one it spreads to many.

Peace lovers.

The feeling in the air was unmistakable that evening....love.

...and great hope, for this little one is our future.

Thank you.

This family are very moved by the Peace Torch and the message of the Peace Run.
They told us seeing the peace torch has made their whole week!

Thank you for your beautiful smiles and your oneness hearts!

YHA Wellington know the Peace Run team very well now. We have stayed here before on previous Peace Runs and they so generously had us to stay again. Thank you YHA!! We love staying with you.
