Hawera - Kai Iwi Beach

Reported by Daniel Rubin

Big thanks to Kay from Avon Motel for a friendly welcome and sponsoring a wonderful nights stay!

Running to the first school of the day, Tawhiti Primary.

Singing together with actions a song called "World Harmony".

In good times and bad there's a place where you can feel peace inside.

Here we have Zahlia and Asta who received Peace Ambassador Awards for being great role models in helping others.

Passing through Hawera we met locals who stopped to hold the torch.

At Hawera Primary, New York based Harita asks for different virtues that are related to peace.
Answers like "being kind" and "calm" come back.

Hawera Primary School children singing.

This is Wade who is the proud recipient of the Torch Ambassador Award for his respect and kindness to others.

Much to the delight of the students, the teachers show they are Peace Runners too!

Patea Area School gave the team a friendly reception.

Peace Runners all sharing the message of oneness.

Fueling up for the run towards Whanganui.

Preetidutta carrying the torch of peace for all of those who were affected by flooding in Hawke's Bay and everywhere in New Zealand. Our hearts go out to you.

Everywhere the runners go the support vehicle goes too. As one runner jumps out another runner gets in and has a rest.

Bruce of Kai Iwi Holiday Park gave us a most hospitable welcome. We loved the laid-back experience of the park, it's great facilities and proximity to a brilliant beach. Owners Bruce and Dianne are real examples of how peace can spread from one to many by just being kind, empathetic and full of enthusiasm ! We particularly enjoyed hearing about all the Moa and millions-of-years old dolphin fossils that abound in the area.
