Gradiška - Banja Luka

Welcome to Bosnia and Herzegovina! We left Croatia behind and reached the border...

The mayor of Stara Gradiška joined us for a few symbolic steps onto the bridge to meet his colleague...

The Bosnian athletes ran towards us!

...a meeting in the middle of the bridge, which is the border between Croatia and Bosnia i Herzegovina....

...the passing of the torch from Croatia to Gradiška!

...and the first steps by the mayor of Gradiška...

...and we started our run into Bosnia! A group of local athletes carried the torch for the first few km's...

...the police was extremely helpful! A big "Thank You"!

...some long, long km as the temperature was rising without compassion...

...we reached Banja Luka....

...and we went on to our next meeting place. More runners joined in....

....a representative of the city of Banja Luka attended the meeting...

We passed the torch to the city representative....

...and to all the kids...

...the inauguration of a peace tree!

....our next meeting brought us to the OHR - the Office of the High Representative.

Mrs. Ulrike Hartmann, OHR representative in Banja Luka, kindly received us on behalf of this UN - Institution, which overlooks the Peace process in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The official part was followed by a very nice discussion about the situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Thank you for the kind meeting and the warm welcome!

Our last meeting of the day brought us to the city park of Banja Luka. A group of
local runners awaited us despite the fact that they finished the Banja Luka Half-Marathon the day before..
