Hastings - Taupo

Reported by Daniel Rubin 157.0 km

John and Pam made us feel right at home at Elmore Lodge - They let us use their private galley kitchen to cook our teams dinner. We are so grateful for their wonderful gesture of supporting the Peace Run.

Vlad and furry friends of Frimley Lodge Motel in Hastings host the Peace Run team.

We started our run for the day on Te Mata Peak which has glorious views of the region.

We were invited to the Hastings Council Buildings to meet the Mayor of Hastings Sandra Hazlehurst.

Tania Kerr is the Deputy Mayor of Hastings. She asked us all our personal stories as to what inspired us to be Peace Runners - and she added her own experiences to complement each story.

Mayor Sandra Hazlehurst is extremely pleased to represent the aspirations of the people of Hastings - we certainly feel her desire for a more peaceful world.

Thank-you Hastings Mayor Sandra Hazlehurst and Deputy Mayor Tania Kerr for your lovely presentation of the values of a community rich in diversity and character.

We got to experience that diversity and character at Te Pohue School - the children are certainly bright and full of enthusiasm.
