Washington DC

Reported by Prakhara Harter

The Peace Run invited the diplomats, personnel and families at the embassies in Washington DC to submit artwork for our Expressions of Peace project.  The theme was 'Create a Beautiful and Peaceful World'.

Lavida, who is 8 years old, is representing the Embassy of Namibia. About her drawing she says, "This photo is showing that we can have peace in the world with mother nature."

Kula, 14 years old, and Lavida are sisters whose mother works for the Embassy of Namibia in Washington, DC. Her drawing beautifully says, "This shows that everyone is connected to each other, no matter the differences."

Kula also gave a motivating message on her other drawing: "Peace starts with positive mindset."

The Peace Run visited Namibia in 2019 as part of the Southern Hemisphere Peace Run. Many students, teachers and officials eagerly held the Torch.

Sabrina, age 7, has created a painting of flowers.  Her father works for the Embassy of Paraguay in Washington, DC.

This is what she says about her artwork: "I draw these flowers because I love flowers, I like colors and I feel peace and happiness when I see them. For that reason I decided to draw a flower parade. The biggest flower is the main flower of my parade".

She also gives us the Spanish version:
"dibujo estas flores porque me encantan las flores, me gustan los colores y siento paz y felicidad cuando las veo. Por ese motivo decidí en dibujar un desfile de flores. La flor más grande es la flor principal de mi desfile".

We also visited Paraguay in 2019 and were warmly welcomed at many schools. The students especially enjoyed running with the Torch.
