Pori - Tammela

Reported by Sadanand Magee 142.0 km

Good morning Pori! Our first school meeting is at Vaharauman Koulu where a large circle of children are eagerly awaiting.

The children run a lap of the school with their teacher leading the way.

Our next top is at a lovely Steiner school at Kuninkaanhaanaukio.

The children enjoy singing and doing the actions for the world harmony run song.

We do some funny skits for the children.

The principle was deeply mover by the experience so much so she wanted to run a lap of the playground with the torch.

We have time for teas and coffees before the next schools. Cinnamon buns....yum!

Next we visit Kuninkaanhaan School where the teachers run with the torch and the pupils 'high 5' them.

Time for actions with the World Harmony Run Song!

Time to run with the torch!

Thank you for a great school visit!

Our last school visit of the day is to Vainolan Koulu.

The to run and the sports P.E. teacher leads the way.

We meet an extremely enthusiast couple on the road.

It turns out that this lady's brother was a top marathon runner, Olavi Suomalainen, who won the Boston marathon in 1972. That's an amazing achievement!

Preetidatta finds a whole barrow of ripe apples!

Guess what's in the water?

Our local coordinators, Niharika and Kagni, run some kilometres.

...and meet some friends.

Meeting locals along our route!

We stumble upon an quaint old building in Yttilan that happens to be a school museum.

The curators are extremely friendly and they invite us inside for a spontaneous tour!

We find many old treasures.

A map of the old school buildings.

This brochure about the school was written by the curator Sari Minkovitsch. She kindly offered one to us.
