Berlin - Neustrelitz

Reported by Dipavajan Renner 121.0 km

we left Berlin and arrived in Basdorf. The community celebrated the opening of a garden-plant exhibition.

The mayor welcomed us and guided our runners into the exhibition....

...fuchsias, the speciality of the garden exhibition....

...a brief presentation...

Thank you Basdorf for the welcome!

..running into Liebenwalde...

The city festival took place and we were invited to present the Peace Run.

...the mayor greeted us with kind words...

...and the whole audience took a step for peace!

...the Simpsons and more....

...we enjoyed the city festival and it's various atractions...

...the nearby lake invited us for a swim...

...long roads through the beautiful countryside...

In Zehdenick we arrived during the city sport festival during an ongoing 29-h run....

...some runners took the torch...

...a presentation...

...and the children organised a relay-run around the 29-h track - right through the city....

Thank you Zehdenick for the enthusiastic welcome!

...our girls are flying...

Himmelpfort (translation: Heaven's gate...) welcomes the Peace Run! According to local sources the village is the home of Santa Claus.
The village receives every year 300.000 letters from children from all around the world - addressed to Santa Claus. The people of Himmelpfort reply to all of them!!!

Santa Claus' living room and office...

Santa Claus' "manager" received the torch!

Nearby we visited the remains of an old monastery...

...a stone-labyrinth for contemplation...

Thank you for the fun!

...running out of Himmelpfort....

...and reached Neustrelitz, our today's final destination.

We finished at the "Strelitzie" - named after Neustrelitz. Thanks for the nice day!
