Kingston

Reported by Arpan DeAngelo 5.0 km

We are extremely grateful to Madelene Medeiros and the friendly staff of the Ambassador Resort Hotel in Kingston for offering us very clean and comfortable rooms for the night. This wonderful hotel also had great pools, hot tub and sauna which were healthful for recovery of our weary legs.

With very little running to do today in Kingston we decided to go for a morning run at Lemoine Point, a wonderful nature preserve with very well groomed trails along the coastline of Lake Ontario.

Great views of Lake Ontario.

The official Provincial flower called 'Trillium' was blooming everywhere.

Miles of beautiful trails and clear blue skies graced our morning run.

Medur, second from left, drove from Ottawa to join us as we head in that direction and will arrive there soon as well.

Another great view of Lake Ontario from the condo of our good friends, Paramita and Hladini, who prepared many delicious meals for us during our stay in Kingston.

Paramita served up a great brunch meal for us this morning.

A few moments to relax and enjoy the comforts of 'home' due to the great hospitality of Paramita and Hladini.

Valerie works hard every day preparing the wonderful photos he takes everyday to document our experiences on this Peace Run.

Our wonderful hosts Paramita, Hladini and Mahayasham hold the torch together as part of our larger Peace Run Team.

In the afternoon we ran into the Martello School in Kingston. The younger children and most of the teachers were there to enthusiastically greet us.

Hladini, a local resident in Kingston and one of our hosts and coordinators, takes part in our presentation to the children and staff of the Martello School.

We offer short and entertaining skits in which the children have to judge whether it demonstrates peace and harmony or otherwise.

Finding peace in our hearts is always a calming moment for everyone.

Even the teachers joined in.

Catherine Mills receives our Torch Bearer Award for her decades of dedicated work in the field of education. She is also the Founder and Principal of the Martello School, founded in 1987, which is the same year the Peace Run was founded by Sri Chinmoy. She is greatly respected and loved by the children and staff here. We are also very grateful to her for inviting us here to share our program with the children and teachers.

Some of the parents were so thrilled with the event that they took our their phone cameras to capture the precious moments for their children.

Paramita walks with one of the many children who joined as she carries her custom-made peace banner.

After the uplifting school experience we had some time to check out beautiful downtown Kingston. Some of the old classical style buildings add charm and beauty to this pristine city.

Among some of the notable landmarks we were able to visit was this classic nineteenth century steam engine.

In the evening we were greeted by local friends of our hosts to share the Peace Torch and share a short Peace Walk together.

They all had an opportunity to pass the Peace Torch, making wishes for peace and harmony by beautiful Lake Ontario.

Emily enthusiastically demonstrates an athletic cheerleader move for us.

Arpan goes 'head-over-heels' for Emily's performance as he offers his own version of cheerleading.

This great group of Kingston residents made our visit here a very rewarding and peaceful one.

Our two main hosts, Paramita and Hladini, share the Torch with one of their dear local friends as we finally had to say good-bye and move onto our next destination. We are extremely grateful to them and the others who helped make this visit a memorable one for all of us.
