Ísafjörður - Dynjandi

Reported by Salil Wilson 83.0 km

Sunrise in Þingeyri over the church and swimming pool, two cultural institutions of any Icelandic village.

Sólarupprás í Þingeyri, lýsir upp kirkjuna og sundlaugina, tvær menningarstofnanir sem finna má í flestum íslenskum þorpum.

Down at the beach.

Við ströndina.

Salil got started early.

Salil lagði snemma í hann.

Suren enjoys another good day of fine weather in the West Fjords.

Suren nýtur góða veðurfarsins í Vestfjörðum enn einn daginn.

We made it to Þingeyri to participate in a 2 km race and a 4 km race.

Við komum til Þingeyrar og tókum þátt í 2 og 4 kílómetra skemmtiskokki.

All the participants had a chance to hold the torch.

Allir þátttakendur fengu tækifæri á að halda á Friðarkyndlinum.

Pierre and Natabara carried Suren across the finish line.

Pierre og Natabara báru Suren yfir marklínuna.

Everyone got a waffle with nutella and whipped cream.

Allir fengu vöfflur með rjóma.

Edyta enjoys her waffle.

Edyta fékk sér fjórar vöfflur!

Salil was very unhappy to find out he had to run up a 15% grade up hill leaving Þingeyri.

Salil var ekki alveg ánægður með að þurfa að hlaupa erfiða brekku upp frá Þingeyri.

There he goes, and take it from me people, it was a lot steeper than it looks.

Þá fer hann af stað, þessi brekka er mun brattari en hún lítur út fyrir að vera.

All the race finishers got sunglasses and here's Suren sporting his new pair.

Allir sem luku hlaupinu fengu sólgleraugu og urðu samstundis svalir.

Tired of taking endless switchbacks up the hill Suren decided to go off road and take a short cut.

Suren ákvað að stytta sér leið upp brekkuna.

Pierre pushes hard up the hill.

Pierre gets over the top to enjoy the downhill run.

Pierre upp á toppi Hrafnseyrarheiðar.

The breath taking view of Dynjandi from across the fjord. Dynjandi is one of Icleand's most famous waterfalls.

Horft yfir fjörðinn til Dynjanda.

A very rare sighting of actual Icelanders doing the tourist thing in their own country. These two were from Reykjavík.

Flestir ferðamenn sem við hittum eru útlendingar og vorum við hálfhissa á að hitta þessa tvo Reykvíkinga á meðal þeirra.

Talk about breath taking - Natabara and Salil decided to take a dip in the frigid waters at the foot of the waterfall.

Salil og Natabara ákváðu að skella sér út í vatnið við Dynjanda.

Natabara enjoys the view.

Natabara nýtur útsýnisins.

Natabara lost in the snow.

Snáði í snjónum?

Ashadeep and Zuzka enjoyed some down hill snow running

Ashadeep og Zuzka hlaupa á snjónum.

They also enjoyed some downhill sliding.

Og renna sér niður.

This little fellow wanted to hold the torch and make a wish for peace.

Þessi vildi fá að halda á kyndlinum og leggja fram sína friðarósk.
