Santa Cruz - Lisbon

We started in Torres Vedras well escorted by he local police...

The kids of the "Agrupamento Escolas Campelos" awaited us at the city-hall and deputy mayor Mrs. Laura Rodrigues received the torch on behalf of the city...

running to the school of the kids...

...they showed us how a relay works...

we enjoyed the beautiful contryside on our way to Odivelas...

we meet some British cycling friends on the way and shared the road for quite a few kilometres...

In the "Instituto of Odivelas" we were greeted with the very powerful "school scream"

thank you girls for the amazing reception....

The bombeiros of Odivelas also joined the running party...

We reached the border of Lisbon and went to the "E.B. 2,3 Professor Lindley Cintra" school. The kids line up and greeted us with high-five...

We finally arrived to the Capital: Lisboa

The staff of Unesco, the representatives of the City and some Olympic athletes, Francis Obikwelo, Nuno Delgado and Jorge Pina, honoured us with a hearty reception at the Unesco headquarter in Lisbon.

Mrs Ana Martinho, Embassador for UNESCO in Lisbon, was extremely enthusiastic, she embraced the spirit of the Run and f inspiring words to the team...

Mr. Vitor Hugo, representative of Lisboa City Hall, and Mrs. Ana Martinho held the torch together

Our very good friend Jorge Pina would not miss any oportunity to be once again with us...

Nuno Delgado gave us the best smile of the day...

Thank you Jorge.. you are definetely part of our home-oneness family...

The Unesco Staff were extremely kind to us...

Mrs. Martinho is herself a good runner and she enjoyed some steps running with the torch...

Our last meeting of the day: the Hindu community of Portugal...

...we reached the Radha Krishna Temple in Lisbon...

...after a warmly welcome we carried the torch traditionally once around the temple...

The temple is most beautiful and sacred place in the heart of Lisbon...

The priest blessed the torch..

The head of the community received the torch...

..and we were alowed to participate in a small Puja...

We performed the Arti... and got the blessing from the deities...

..the atmosphere in the temple was extremely peaceful...

...blessings and Prasad...

Thank you for the auspicious meeting!

we finished the visit with a delicious Indian meal..

A big "Thank You" to the Hindu Comunity of Lisbon for supporting the Peace Run!
