Април 27, 2014 Live from the road

Raleigh, NC - Winston-Salem, NC

Reported by Arpan DeAngelo 90.0 km

This poem by the Founder of the Peace Run, Sri Chinmoy, reminds us of our goals to dream, love and serve peace in others around the world.

Two peace servers running for peace start the day out with a smile.

Locals along the way stop to share the torch and a smile. We had more time today to share the torch with unexpected visitors as we had no scheduled ceremonies today.

Another lover of peace stops to greet our women runners and make a wish for peace with the torch.

The weather was great today as we ran through part of North Carolina.

One of the women's teams stopped by the Mediterranean Deli and Catering which had offered us wonderful food for last night's meal in Raleigh.

Meanwhile the men's team was on the road enjoying the nice weather and the lack of pressure to get to a ceremony on time. Enjoying hours of running without interruption occassionally is very helpful in our own personal contemplation of peace in the world.

Scott has been a solid member of our team from the start but unfortunately has to head home soon to Seattle to get back to work.

Zuzka also has also been a valuable member of the team in the first week but has to leave us soon as well.

Anna has been doing some high mileage days to make up for some of our runners who are a bit under the weather right now.

After a hard run lunch on the road can be quite enjoyable.

Dennis fills the torch with fuel before his run.

Ready to run to California and beyond.

Near the end of our run we encountered this very appropriate Peace sign.

Arpan rings the bell for Peace.

Dinner at Moe's Southwest Grill in Winston-Salem was quite enjoyable.

Some of the staff at Moe's hold the torch high. They were very supportive of our cause and our team, feeding us sumptuously with their delicious selections of healthy food. One of our top coordinators for many states, Prakhara, second from the left, secured this meal for us tonight. We are very grateful to her and to Moe's for a perfect dinner.

The Ramada Plaza Winston-Salem North very generously accomodated our team for the evening in Winston-Salem. Thank you so much!!
