Light rain greeted the Peace Run team this morning, the beautiful lush bush of Bulahdelah hills shrouded in mist.
Steady rain developed as the girls team ran steadily 42kms up and down steep hills.
The boys team didn't escape the drenching.
Not everyone was inconvenienced by the rain.
On to Newcastle for our City Council meeting at 2pm.
The TV cameras were rolling so the whole team suited up.
Umbrellas were out.
This reception was hosted by Newcastle Lord Mayor Nuatali Nelmes (who hails from Solomon Islands and is the 4th charming lady Mayor we have had the good fotune to meet on this Peace Run since Brisbane) ...
Councilor Declan Clausen was also representing the City Council.
The Peace Run Torch-Bearer award was presented to Shirley Chapman for her humanitarian work through the “Wrap with Love” scheme.
The reception was held outside Council chambers among pretty flower beds, however the pouring rain tended to put a damper on the proceedings.
NBN News' Renee Fedder was not put off by the rain.

The girls team then repaired to a cafe to warm up before 11km of running on the way to Swansea ...
The day cleared and sun shone for much of the afternoon.
