On Sunday 4th August 2019, two bronze Peace Statues were inaugurated in North Wales. An international team of runners carried the flaming Peace torch across the Menai bridge to the first statue in Treborth Botanic Garden and then on to the second statue in Llanberis by the lake in Padarn Country Park. On this historic occasion a new venture has been announced: the Peace Statue Challenge which invites Peace lovers to make a journey from one statue to the other and record their adventure on the website: https://www.peacestatuechallenge.org/

Lord Elis-Thomas first met the Peace Run when he was the Presiding Officer at the Welsh Assembly. Since then he has met us many times, and run with us on quite a few as well!
The statue is on the Wales Coast Path, which runs through the Garden. The Path is very popular with walkers and runs the entire length of Wales’ coastline, some 870 miles.

The Llanberis Lake Railway engine tooted us into the Slate Museum’s grounds in Parc Padarn.
