The team is so excited to visit the Boys and Girls Club in Oviedo.

Telling the students about the Peace Run, founded in 1987 by Sri Chinmoy, and its purpose to bring awareness that peace begins in our hearts. If we have peace, we can give peace to others.

Feeling peace in our hearts, spreading peace from person to person, the friend next to you, our city, community and the world at large.

“Peace Begins With Me”.

Students were very impresssed watching the video of the Peace Run visiting schools in more than 160 countries.

Students made beautiful artworks for peace.

David Jr, David Sr, and Nancy. We are very grateful she came to join us all the way from Tampa. Thank you!

Mrs. Rouse was surprised and overwhelmed with joy to hear her name as a recipient for the Torch Bearer Award in her community.

Oviedo Mayor Hon. Megan Sladek had the honor to present Torch Bearer Awards to recipients. Here, she gives the Torch Bearer Award to Director of the Boys and Girls Club, Anthony Floyd, for his kindness and self- giving service to all his students.

Mr. Floyd chose the following Torch Bearer Award Recipients for their selfless service.

Mrs. Rosie Rouse
-Mrs. Rouse for being an advocate of the Boys & Girls Club who believes that we make a difference in the lives of the kids at the club. She invites people in the community to the BGC and offers to pick them up and drop them off back at home if they want to go. She does not care who they are and never asks them for gas money or anything in return. She just wants to make sure that all kids in the community can have the opportunity to attend the Club.

Sadie White
Sadie is a young lady who is always eager to do a lot of projects around the club. Whenever asked to do something, she always says yes before we even tell her what we would like for her to do. She loves helping out the younger members, especially with art projects.

Hayden Scott
Hayden Scott is a very lively spirited young man. He always has a smile on his face when he walks into the club. He loves to share with the club about his day and always finds positive things to talk about. Hayden takes the initiative to help out other members without staff even having to ask him to do it, and he does it without looking for any special recognition.

Teachers and students participate in skits demonstrating acts of kindness, harmony and disharmony as well.

Students that read peace poems and took part in skits received a Torch Bearer Award Certificates.

Mayor and Director receiving certificates of appreciation and a painting of World Harmony by the Peace Run founder Sri Chinmoy.

After our presentation ceremony, we were ready to head outside to plant the Sri Chinmoy peace tree and run with the peace torch.

The peace tree will remind students that peace begins with each of us, and in this way peace will spread from them to the world at large, just like the branches of the tree.

Running with the torch is always fun.

We would like to express our gratitude to Director Anthony Floyd, his staff and students for a heart-felt welcome of the Peace Run at the BGCCF in Oviedo and Hon. Mayor Megan Sladek for receiving the Peace Torch on behalf of her city. Thank you for your participation.

A gratitude-heart has the capacity to distribute Harmony, Joy and Peace”.
