We started our today's journey at the "Rainha Santa Isabel" school
"PAZ" (PEACE)
...after a warm welcome, the kids offered us inspiring performances...
A gift for the next school...
the balloons took off...
We said goodbye and went to to the next destination...
...the "Silva Gaio School"
Teaching or Cheating, that is here the question...
The students enjoyed counting the push-ups...
the teachers set the example, and held the torch first.. but they didn't know...
that they had to run next...
After the group picture...
we ran out of the school leaving smiles of friendship behind...
allong the Mondego river we enjoyed the panoramic view of Coimbra...
and reached the "D.Duarte school"
The State Secretary of Teaching and School Administration, Mr Joao Casanova de Almeida held the torch...
and shared some inspiring words for peace with the kids
and after the poetry reading...
we ran around the school...
Some more gifts for the Peace Run Art Gallery...
..we went through the old center town towards the city hall...
We cross the river...
...passing by the beautifull manuelino-style Monastery of Santa Cruz.
...decorated inside with typical Portuguese tiles from the 18th century...
The Mayor of Coimbra, Mr Barbosa de Melo, once again welcomed us...
The Peace Run is now becoming a good tradition in Coimbra...
..through the Manga Garden...
..until the botanical garden
we stopped for a well deserved picknick under the fresh shadow of the trees...
And proceed to the "Joao de Deus School"...
"Running To Peace"
"The children arround the fire" (Os meninos a volta da fogueira) is a tradicional old song that keeps going around the country...
Who is this?
...a message for next school...
Thank you Joao de Deus for your warm embrace...
...arriving at the "Anexas School"...
the kids welcomed us enthusiastically...
....even the new High Tech Helmet devices where part of the fun...
Our police escort got many cheers from the children...
..coming from the dephts of our hearts...
...a "Thank you" to all the cool kids of Anexas...
We ran out of Coimbra to the CAIC in Cernache
A big line awaited us - and hundreds of "High Fives"
...Great performances...
"Peace Be with You"
The day ended as it started, smiling and running under the shining sun of Portugal...
