Giethoorn - Amersfoort

Reported by Abhinabha Tangerman, Grahak Cunningham 115.0 km

Giethoorn friends.

René de Heer, vice mayor of Zwolle. He was an avid runner as well.

Hot running. 38 degrees!!!

Arriving at the centre of Wim Hof, also known as the 'iceman' for his many world records in cold temperatures.

Wim Hof has broken 26 world records, all of which have to do with subjecting his body to extreme cold.

In 2007 he climbed Mount Everest past 7,500 meters - called the “death zone” - wearing nothing but shorts and shoes.

According to Wim Hof the secret of his feats of endurance lies in being able to influence your own autonomic nervous system and immune system. He caused a scientific breakthrough by proving that people he trained were able to do so.

Now the Wim Hof Method is practiced all over the world. Wim regularly travels the globe to give courses and seminars or to participate in new scientific research.

We presented Wim Hof with the Torch Bearer Award for the good work he has done all over the world, inspiring millions of people through the Wim Hof Method.

In Wim’s own words: “Each person has much more strength and power that he is now conscious of. It’s my mission to make people conscious of that."

The coolest way to pose for a Peace Run picture ever!

Ultimately, the Wim Hof Method is all about showing you how to break through your perceived limits and discover new mental and physical ground.

He had us participate in a group hug.

Our team captain Josef is a big fan of Wim Hof, having practiced his exercises for three years. He was overjoyed to meet him in person.

Of course Wim treated us to an icebath.

With 38 degree heat, it was a welcome relief!

Grahak (from Australia) went 'down under' in a completely new way.

Local coordinator Bhadrika loving the challenge.

Wim Hof gave generously of his time and energy, advising us on how to live more healthily.

After the icebaths the heat wasn't so opressive anymore.

We ran to Amersfoort, our last stop.

The mayor Lucas Bolsius, warmly greeted us.

He congratulated the runners and was impressed we ran through the hottest day ever recorded in The Netherlands.

Local runners from running club AV Triathlon were also present.

The mayor took a few steps for peace around the main square.

'Lange Jan' tower in Amersfoort.

The runners from AV Triathlon took us for a 4K run to their clubhouse.

Arriving at 6 p.m. Still very hot!

Chairman Thomas Plog welcomed the runners.

We saw ourselved on TV, filmed just an hour ago by regional television.

Ben, the man on the left, organized the whole event.

At 19:30 more runners came and we held a short presentation.

Then we went for another 1K run together.

Group photo with runners from AV Triathlon. Thank you so much for a wonderful heartfelt meeting!

This guy filmed everything and will make a nice video of the event.
