They all made us feel very welcome and opened their hearts to us.

We shared precious moments of silence and peaceful harmony.

And one by one infused the Peace Torch with our wishes and prayers.
Y uno por uno, infundimos la Antorcha de la Paz, con nuestros deseos y oraciones.
Two guests of honour share an amiable moment during the country guessing game: The Governor of Rocha, Mr. Anibal Pereyra and Denis Milar, a football pro hailing from La Paloma. He played for the Uruguayan national team in the 70ies and participated in two World Cups.
Dos invitados de honor comparten un momento agradable durante el juego de adivinanzas del país: el Gobernador de Rocha, el Sr. Anibal Pereyra y Denis Milar, un profesional de fútbol de La Paloma. Jugó para el equipo nacional Uruguayo en los años 70 y participó en dos Copas Mundiales.

Elizabeth Dewadra from the transport department provided an enthusiastic escort for us out of town and along the beautiful beaches of La Paloma. She became fast friends with Santiva, who was thrilled to hear that Elizabeth´s sister lives in Florida not three miles from her home, in Sanford, where, as fate would have it, Santiva´s husband was conducting a Peace Run ceremony this very day! :-)
Elizabeth Dewadra, del departamento de transporte, nos brindó una entusiasta escolta fuera de la ciudad y en las hermosas playas de La Paloma. Se hizo muy amiga de Santiva, quien se emocionó al escuchar que la hermana de Elizabeth vive en Florida, a menos de cinco kilómetros de su casa, en Sanford, donde, según la suerte, el esposo de Santiva estaba llevando a cabo una ceremonia de la Carrera de la Paz ese mismo día! :-)

Banshidhar, our Hawaiian captain and surfing enthusiast kept eying the waves and declared La Paloma a surfer´s paradise. It´s a good thing he is invited to come down again to hit the beach with our new-found friends.
Banshidhar, nuestro capitán hawaiano y entusiasta del surf, observaron las olas y declararon a La Paloma un paraíso para los surfistas. Fue bueno que lo invitarán a venir de nuevo para ir a la playa con nuestros nuevos amigos.
Valeria is a great runner and competes in 10k races. Today she joined our team for 5k.

Our accommodations are literally set amongst the dunes in a peaceful little hamlet called Amistad. The clear skies beckoned four fearless stargazers to go for a digestive stroll.
Nuestros alojamientos están literalmente ubicados entre las dunas, en una pequeña y tranquila aldea, llamada Amistad. Los cielos despejados invitaron a cuatro intrépidos observadores de estrellas a dar un paseo digestivo.
And boy was it worth it!! Southern hemisphere panorama with the milkyway in all it´s glory!!
