The Peace Run team were welcomed by Ajahn Ritthi, at the Atammayatarama Buddhist Monastery on Sunday morning. The general philosophy in maintaining the monastery is “Generosity is not just about material, but also about time, service and giving themselves.”
Ajahn Ritthi and our new friends, Kong and his wife, led us through the meditation garden and 'Path to the end of suffering'.
The walk included many signposts with peace invoking messages of silence, mindfulness and oneness.
Messages are presented in both Pali, the sacred language of Theraveda Buddhism, and English.
It was a cold and rainy day, even for the silent Buddha who greeted us along the path.
Monday morning, the Peace Run team visited with the students of Montlake Elementary School
then headed to the SAGA School, Seattle Area German American Immersion School.
SAGA School ajoins a church which is now used as their common and event space. The acoustics were exceptional when we shared the Peace Run song.
The event was given almost entirely in German. We were very fortunate to have our Austrian Teammate Nikolaus there is lead the presentation.
Thank you to Anjanette Gonzales, Director of SAGA School for welcoming us so warmly. It was such a joy to spend time with students there. And a special thank you to Michael Brandstetter for the introduction to Anjanette.
